Attorney Scott F. Hess grew up in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He attended Franklin Piece College and graduated with a degree in Psychology. He then attended the Western New England College School of Law from 2006-2008, where he was a member of the Rendigs National Product Liability Moot Court Team and clerked for the Honorable Judge Kenneth Cole sitting in the Holyoke District Court. He also volunteered with Wester Massachusetts Legal Services during the Summer of 2007.
During his last year of law school, Scott was a visiting student at the University of Maine School of Law, where he participated in the trial team and was a student attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. He graduated from Western New England College School of Law, cum laude, in 2009.
Scott now makes his home in Kennebec County, Maine, with his wife and two children. His well-established and dynamic law firm covers a wide variety of cases including criminal law, family law, civil litigation / personal injury, as well as appellate practice.
His years of experience have built a practice trusted by hundreds of clients to navigate the overwhelming complexities of the legal system with compassion, clarity and common sense. Scott is a passionate and dedicated champion for civil rights and has argued many cases before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. He has also argued before the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston.
Scott served as a board member of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for six years. He has been on the Board of Governors of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association since 2018. He served as a board member, including president, of the Friends of Maine’s Seabird Islands, a non-profit with the mission to protect Maine’s coastal island habitat.
When not in the office, Scott enjoys Maine’s many natural beauties with his family, camping and boating in the Summer and skiing in the Winter.
